’’Today we celebrate Europe Day. It is a day dedicated to the peace and reunification of the European peoples, day in which, once again, we declare our determination to continue upholding the principles that laid the foundation of a united Europe’’ said the Speaker of the Bulgarian Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva on 9 May 2018.
She also underlined that on this day all Bulgarians have a good reason to be proud due to the fact that Bulgaria not only has established itself as a responsible and reliable member of the EU in the recent months, but also has given its significant contribution to the debate on the future of our common European home. “I believe that in the future the Bulgarian parliamentarians will work vigorously to ensure peace, freedom and prosperity in Europe” added Tsveta Karayancheva.
The Speaker of the National Assembly pointed out that “now Europe is in Bulgaria, where important topics for all EU citizens are being discussed, and the most suitable solutions are being sought and found”. Ms Karayancheva added that the desire of all European nations is to establish a more peaceful and secure future for all children. She also underlined that the young people in Europe are the ones to ensure the unity and integrity of the Union.
“I am confident that each one of us will continue to work and invest energy in order to contribute to the achievement of our common European goals - peace, stability and prosperity" said the National Assembly’s Speaker.
Representatives of the parliamentary groups also made statements on the occasion of Europe Day - 9 May.
